I know Toxin is considered one of the best bonus elements if you want to use only 1 elemental mod to save mod slots (can create Viral, Corrosive and Gas). Heat is good if you want to combine 2 elemental mods that don’t interfere with the bonus element to give a weapon a good extra combined status effect (Heat + Viral, Corrosive or Magnetic).
